Iva, Ema, Kristina

Ema Subotičanec is currently employed at the Zagreb City Libraries, in the Medveščak Library. She works in an environment where she quickly settled in and in which she has been working with great satisfaction for the past three years. In September 2022, she completed her graduate studies in Library Science and Comparative Literature at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb.

After finishing her studies, during an active job search in her profession, she became interested in the New Information Professionals (Novi informacijski stručnjaci, NIS) group and soon became a member, as well as a member of the Zagreb Library Association. Some of the topics that particularly interest her within librarianship and information science are the culture and history of reading, the history of publishing, and information and media literacy. She is a great lover of reading and discussing books, so much so that she is a member of three book clubs. She prefers to spend her free time in the company of close friends and exploring new places.

Kristina Nikić –> A librarian who loves everything except silence! After seven years working in a school library, during the last three of which she served as head of the County Professional Council of primary school librarians in the City of Zagreb and organized county-level professional librarians’ conferences, she was ready for new challenges and everything that comes with working in a public library. In 2025, she became an information librarian at the Adult Services Department of the Zagreb City Library in the network of Zagreb City Libraries (Knjižnice grada Zagreba, KGZ), and since 2026 she has taken on the role of the coordinator of the “Croatian Book Month” manifestation for the Zagreb City Libraries network.

A constant desire for growth and development also led her to join the New Information Professionals group of the Zagreb Library Association ( Zagrebačko knjižničarsko društvo, ZKD). When she is not working, she socializes and drinks coffee, excessively takes care of her plants, wanders through forests, rides a bicycle, and attends an average of two alternative music concerts per week. Although she describes her attention span as that of a butterfly, she reads quite a lot!

Iva Džambaski –> She discovered her great love for cataloguing as a demonstrator in the German Studies Collection, and she further confirmed it after her graduation by working in the Library of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. Today, she sharpens her old knowledge and acquires new skills (social networks and digital marketing) in Zagreb City Libraries.
