Goran Živković – Žika

Goran Živković Žika is a collector of failures, a musician, pedagogue and a passionate walker.

He has been intensely concerned with failure for the past year. So much so that he founded the association “Srčika” in cooperation with Dijana Mateša and organized a series of forums “Let failure turn you on” (Napali se na uspjeh) where they harass famous guests who talk about their personal experiences with failure. The audience draws strength from these stories, recognizes that failure is a part of life, that one should not be ashamed of it and that one should learn from it.

He is a composer, lyricist and performer in the music group Overflow. The band has released seven albums, a number of singles and has traveled throughout Europe and North America in the last three decades. Overflow put Koprivnica on the European map of urban culture and started a tradition related to punk rock in Koprivnica that continues to this day.

During the pandemic, he started working with video and photography, which he combined with his passion for extremely long walks, and in collaboration with Konrad Mulvaj he launched the multimedia art project “Walking Koprivnica” in which he reflects on world change and how it affects the local community. How does it work? He wanders the streets with an unusual camera on a long stick, attracting curious glances and inquiries from passers-by.

He has been actively involved in pedagogy for the last ten years at the Martijanec Elementary School, Varaždin County. He earned the title of mentor. He says he loves school because he loves to learn, and children are the best teachers.
